It will be good if we own good funds. It will be easy investing for us. There is just one precaution. Never chase the newest hottest fund every time or else it will affect your compounded earnings at the end. Similarly, never time the market. Time in the market is more important. Just find a good fund and stay with it. Have the awareness that things could change though. Do not just buy and forget.

What if all the funds are good? I would recommend placing an equal weighting on every fund. If you still need additional help, a financial adviser from a nationwide, reputable company will be useful. First, you have to tell the adviser your goals for the future. He or she will then tell you what he thinks your money should be invested in. A good adviser will usually also tell you what will happen in the next few years. Since it’s your money, make sure you ask questions and get everything explained to you so that you understand what you are investing in and what your money is doing for you.

On a final note, investing in mutual funds should be for the long term and money set aside for the funds should be untouchable or gone for the number of years you have determined for your goals. Make it a point not to take out the money invested for emergency usage. The money put aside is only for your goals, nothing else.

Before you consider investing in any type of market, you should really take a long hard look at your current situation. Investing in the future is definitely a good thing, but clearing up bad or potentially bad situations in the present is more important.

The first thing you should do is get a copy of your credit report. You should do this at least once a year. It is important to know what’s in your credit report and clear up any negative items as soon as you possibly can. If you have $25,000 set aside to invest, but you have $25,000 worth of bad credit, your best bet is to clean up your credit before you start any type of investing.

The next thing you should do is look at what you are paying out each month and get rid of any unnecessary expenses. Although things like high interest credit cards are convenient and nice to have, they most certainly aren’t necessary and can end up costing you thousands in the long run. Pay them off and get rid of them. Likewise, if you have high interest loans outstanding, you should pay them off as well.

If nothing else, you could do a balance transfer from one credit card to another, exchanging the high interest credit card for one with lower interest. You could also look into refinancing high interest loans with lower interest loans. You might end up having to use some of your investment funds to take care of these matters, but in the long run, you will see that this is the wisest course of action.

The forex is referred to as an interbank market because it has no specific location like New York Stock Exchange. The market is open from Sunday afternoon eastern time twenty four hours per day until Friday afternoon eastern time making it very desirable to trade because it doesn’t close at the end of the day like the stock market.

To make money trading is accomplished by going through a forex broker and buying and selling currency pairs such as the GBPUSD (British Pound/US Dollar). A person can make money when the market is going up or going down. There are two different kinds of forex accounts to make money trading. A forex mini account which you can open with a few hundred dollars or a regular forex account which you can open with about five thousand dollars. In the mini account, you make about a dollar a pip and in a regular account, you make about 10 dollars a pip.

Maximizing Your Trading Years

I discovered Adam Hamilton in late 2002 and since have read his weekly essays without fail every week. I have incorporated his theory on market cycles into my trading strategy. His research has shown that throughout history markets tend to move in great cycles, long bulls followed by long bears. These cycles are around 34 years long – resulting in a 17 year up cycle followed by a 17 year down cycle. Obviously no market goes straight up or down, so within those major cycles are minor counter-cycles to keep everyone on their toes. Our last major up cycle ran from 1982 to 2000. So, we are now 7 years into the down cycle. If you entered the market in 2003 – it doesn’t feel like a down cycle. However, if you bought tech stocks in 2000 you are still down 50%.

Why am I mentioned this? If the average investor gets serious about investing around 30 and retires at 65, they only have 35 years to really put their money to work. So, if you buy into Wall Street’s buy and hold mantra and time it right at the end of 35 years you will have absolutely nothing to show for your efforts. All of the gains of the first 17 years will be given away in the next 17.
